Hamilton y Cía. oversaw the operations of the Constellation, one of the world’s most advanced offshore construction and pipe-laying vessels, during its recent call at the Port of Las Palmas.

Built in 2014 and operated by the Italian company Saipem, the Constellation stood out for its advanced technology, including a 3,000-ton crane and a state-of-the-art dynamic positioning system. With 178 meters in length, 48 meters in beam and capacity for 239 crew, the vessel is designed for ultra-deepwater pipe-laying, heavy lifting and subsea construction.

Unlike previous short calls limited to bunkering or crew changes, this stay was one of the most significant to date. Under Hamilton y Cía.’s coordination, the vessel carried out complex logistics and technical operations, including load tests with a 3,000-ton pontoon and the embarkation of heavy components previously delivered to the port. These activities represented a milestone for both the company and the Port of Las Palmas.

After completing its operations in Gran Canaria, the Constellation departed for Oceania, where Saipem is engaged in large-scale offshore projects such as the Scarborough gas pipeline and the Perdaman Urea Plant in Australia, as well as other developments in Australia and Guyana.

This call highlighted the continued confidence of Saipem in Hamilton y Cía. and reaffirmed the role of the Port of Las Palmas as a strategic hub for the global offshore industry.
